Cleveland Guardians second baseman Andrés Giménez has signed a seven-year, $106.5 million extension with eight-year club option.

Cleveland Guardians second baseman Andrés Giménez has signed a seven-year, $106.5 million extension with eight-year club option.

Giménez new contract kicks in at the start of the 2024 MLB season.

Giménez, 24, was signed by the New York Mets as an international free agent in 2015. He made his MLB debut with the Mets on July 24, 2020, and played in 49 games during his rookie season.

Giménez is known for his exceptional fielding skills and speed on the basepaths, and has turned into a superstar in the league. He was traded to the Cleveland Guardians in January 2021 as part of a blockbuster deal involving star player Francisco Lindor.
