Qatar bans beers sales at FIFA World Cup 2022
Qatar has banned the sales of Beer at the FIFA World Cup 2022 pissing off Budweiser.

Budweiser took a big blow to their beer sales at the FIFA World Cup 2022.

In a surprising announcement, beer sales are banned at all World Cup stadiums two days before kickoff.

This news is a significant blow to World Cup beer sponsor Budweiser and raised questions about how much control FIFA retains over its tournament.

This is why Qatar should have never hosted the FIFA World Cup. Money won their bid, but they are not a football (soccer) country and now they are going back on what was promised to FIFA organizers and sponsors.

“Following discussions between host country authorities and FIFA, a decision has been made to focus the sale of alcoholic beverages on the FIFA Fan Festival, other fan destinations and licensed venues, removing sales points of beer from … stadium perimeters,” FIFA said in a statement.

budweiser response to qatar ban on beer sales

The FIFA World Cup is supposed to be a month long party, a lot of sponsor money was put into this event and if I were Budweiser, I am pissed off.

Budweiser’s partnership with FIFA started at the 1986 tournament, and they are in negotiations for renewing their deal for the next World Cup in North America.
