The Atlanta Falcons are improving their defensive game by signing linebacker Bud Dupree to a one-year contract worth up to $5 million.

Dupree, 30, was cut by the Tennessee Titans in March that saved the team $9.35 million against their salary cap.

Dupree was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round, 22nd overall at the 2015 NFL Draft,. He played for the Steelers for six seasons from 2015 to 2020, becoming a key member of their defense. In 2020, he had a career-high 8 sacks and 15 quarterback hits before suffering a season-ending ACL injury in December.

In March 2021, Dupree signed a five-year, $82.5 million contract with the Tennessee Titans, becoming one of the highest-paid linebackers in the NFL before he was cut in March. He is known for his speed, athleticism, and ability to rush the passer, as well as his versatility in playing both as a linebacker and defensive end.

What are NFL fans saying about the Bud Dupree contract

Great signing. All we need is a quarterback now.

As a cowboys fan … I have been impressed with the falcons this off season… they continue to build a solid roster

Atlanta Falcons are this years Detroit Lions. Stocking up, getting talent, ready to explode into next season. Just another pass rusher.
