It appears superstar Buccaneers linebacker Devin White and Tampa Bay management can't agree on a contract extension.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Devin White has requested a trade from the team as he is unhappy with his current contract.

With the team and player unable to agree upon a new contract extension, the Bucs now have to decide if they will act upon a Devin White trade. The expectation was that White would be a core member of the defense for years to come.

White, 25, was selected by the Buccaneers in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft as the fifth overall pick. He quickly established himself as a key player on the team’s defense, and his contributions were instrumental in helping the Buccaneers win Super Bowl LV in 2021.

During his college career at LSU, White was a standout player and earned numerous accolades, including the Butkus Award as the nation’s top linebacker in 2018. He was also a consensus All-American and a first-team All-SEC selection in 2018.

As a professional player, White has continued to impress, earning Pro Bowl honors in 2020 and being named First-Team All-Pro in both 2020 and 2021. His speed, athleticism, and ability to read and react to plays make him one of the most talented and promising young linebackers in the NFL today.

What are Bucs fans saying about the Devin White trade request

He must know the Bucs are gonna SUCK

Love the guy, but trade him. Don’t keep someone around that doesn’t want to be here. Trade and get some picks out of him. We could use some mid round picks. He could get us a third rounder. Maybe even a third and a 5th with some late round swaps

As a 49ers fan, I would love to see him traded to our already stacked defensive team.
