Jacob deGrom will miss about 14 months due to Tommy John surgery. He is expected to be back in August of 2024.

The Texas Rangers have received some brutal news as pitcher Jacob deGrom will have surgery on his right ulnar collateral ligament.

deGrom signed a five-year, $185 million deal in the offseason with the Rangers in the hopes of bringing them a World Series title.

We’ve got a special group here, and to not be able to be out there and help them win, that stinks, wanting to be out there and helping the team, it’s a disappointment.

deGrom, 34, is a two time Cy Young winner, 4 time all-star, rookie of the year and ERA title holder.

What are Ranger fans saying about the Jacob deGrom injury?

Damn. This really sucks. The best pitcher most of us have ever seen is having his entire prime wiped out by these injuries. It’s as if Pedro got hurt in 99 or Koufax in 63.

He could’ve been the best pitcher of our generation if it weren’t for injuries. He knows this and it hurts him to his core.

DeGrom is such a great player and doesn’t deserve this. The silver lining for Mets fans is that Uncle Stevie was right not to sign Jake to a lucrative deal.
