Jacob deGrom signed a 5 year / $185,000,000 contract with the Texas Rangers with an annual average salary of $37,000,000.

The Texas Rangers have signed pitcher Jacob deGrom to a five-year, $185 million deal.

The Rangers are going all-in next season. They were desperately seeking an ace for their pitching lineup and have plucked the ace away from the New York Mets.

The deGrom signing is a risk, as he has had injury trouble the last few years, but when healthy deGrom is almost unhittable. deGrom’s salary comes with an AVV of $37 million.

deGrom, 34, finished last year with a 5-4 record and 3.08 ERA in 11 starts. He had 102 strikeouts against just eight walks, with nine home runs allowed.

deGrom who hales from DeLand, Florida was drafted 272 overall out of Stetson University by the New York Mets in the 9th round of the 2010 MLB entry draft.
