Tony Finau beat out 2023 Masters Champion Jon Rahm by three strokes to take the Mexico Open and a $1,386,000 pay day.
It was Finau’s fourth victory in the last nine months. Tony will hope to continue his winning ways to capture his first major championship as the PGA Championship is just three weeks away.
Finau turned professional in 2007 at the age of 17 where he initially struggled to find success on the PGA Tour, but he broke through with his first win at the Puerto Rico Open in 2016. Since then, he has become a consistent performer on the Tour, with several top-10 finishes and appearances in major championships.
One of Finau’s defining traits is his incredible length off the tee, as he is one of the longest drivers of the golf ball on the Tour. He is also known for his athleticism and agility, which he attributes to his Tongan ancestry.
Finau has represented the United States in international competitions, including the Ryder Cup and the Presidents Cup. He has also been involved in philanthropic work, establishing the Tony Finau Foundation to support underprivileged youth in his native Utah.
