The New York Yankees received some bad news today as starting pitcher Frankie Montas will undergo shoulder surgery on February 21, 2023 and could miss the entire 2023 season.

Montas has had several injury concerns in the past, that also includes a 80-game suspension in 2018 for violating MLB’s performance-enhancing drug policy.

Montas has dealt with shoulder and elbow issues throughout his career, including a stress fracture in his right elbow in 2019 that caused him to miss significant time.

What are Yankee fans saying about the Frankie Montas injury?

He definitely wasn’t “expected to be a big part of the rotation” this season. He was the #5 starter and most had a negative outlook on him. Hopefully, Cashman will learn to stop acquiring west coast pitchers at some point.

This is horrific news and I’m not going to lie someone needs to get fired over this trade.

I had 0 expectations of Montas. I guess it’s a little annoying we traded prospects for nothing, but the return for Sears and Waldichuk was never gonna be that high
